Drum For Life

Drum for Life
Culture and EcoTour Ghana 2010, one of the major learnings is to capture the dying artistic expressions from the elder in the fishing villages of Winneba. From Denkyia Kingdom in Jukwa, we will document 8 songs that would be used for the rituals and special events to present their life in a story telling format. We also will work with the content holder from Emmanuel Richardson in Cape Coast, who heads oneVillage UnityDrum Youth Group to understand more about this historical ex-capital of Ghana while digital recording local folklore, dances and drum rhythms that go with them. We prepare to produce the recordings as a products within oneVillage Foundation while Taiwanese volunteers support online communication and marketing for the products.
For the drumming lesson with the NTHU volunteers, I am inspired to dedicate it to ‘Drum for Life‘ to honor my teachers and drumming friend, Doug Bontempi. For the NTHU students to use what they learn from me on drumming to reach out to people, for fun or for funding, the message of ‘Drum for Life’ should be conveyed.
Locations that are suitable for drum circle:
1. In Taipei, I have found Nook Theater to do our drum lessons.
Nook Rental: 每時200元 一次3小時600元
We will practice 2 – 3 times to learn 2 drum rhythms. There are drums to use. So you could arrive without the drums. It would be the best to have your own drums or borrowed drums.
2. NTHU Site
- are drums available?
- need to confirm number of drums?
- need to confirm the date and time?
Winning Attitude = Passion + A Desire and Action to Give Back + Walk the Talk
We are betting on yet another 10 new Taiwanese Youth who could be the Change Makers of our Critical Time.
