Bay Area Community Action Network
On Sunday the 22nd of August Joy Tang the founder of oneVillage Foundation presented her stories and experiences in Bay Leaf Cafe , a vegan cafe serving organic food and drinks in Palo Alto. She began by talking about what she has been doing with Kafui Prebbie and OVF Ghana. She came to the gathering armed with a looseleaf binder full of pictures, a computer, a digital camera and a video camera to assist her storytelling of the event.
In preparation for this event we posted several pictures on the web at Fotonotes with captions describing each photo.
For those who came: thanks for participating in the sharing and energizing evening at Bay Leaf Cafe on Aug. 22! The event was interactive with Joy facilitating a story-sharing and community building experience. Participants had a chance to make contributions to the circle. Let us build on the Bay Leaf event to take actions to help one another in realizing our dreams here in the Bay Area.
Group email List
To start, we created the list of the emails from everyone. If you know of someone who is not listed here, please forward this email to him/her and have them contact Joy Tang (joy@onevillage.biz) She will then add them to the list.
Group Values
One of the things we did at the meeting is get together into groups and then think about what kind of values are important to us in our lives. There was no specific order or categories created, but rather it was a way to build common ground in the groups and to see how our various values fit together.
Group Photos
one participant PH took photos from the event AND uploaded them to the web. Take a look... Those who participated can refresh those fun moments and feel connected again, while those who did not can get a taste of what it was like.
Group Communication Portal
We are currently working with Jesse Taylor to develop a portal for oneVillage. The theme is that of *HOPE* for village builders like you. We would like the group to consider using it and we can co-design the portal with the technical designer to meet our needs. Joy added her profile and has senr an invitation for you to join on Aug. 26 (several people have already joined). Here is a quick look at Joy's profile on this *Village of Hope* portal.
The goal is to bring people in the SF Bay Area who are promoting healthy eating, civic engagement and entrepreneurs, caring for the community, utilization of multi-media for storytelling, artistic expression. This sort of incubator is now being talking about all over the world with people organizing events in cafes and hubs of *consciousness.
We seek to create an event of music, presentation, storytelling that can help to promote our mesage and offer a platform for various business opportunities related to the realization of the oneVillage mission.
Group Member's Call for Action
*Princess Diana* Grippo prepared the following for us to consider: (in the Village of Hope portal, we could add the section for project for action request, for instance).
Be a Mentor:
YOMMP - Youth Outreach Media Mentor Program - is looking for adults to mentor high school students.
